When I look at this political cartoon commenting on women's rights, it has a humorous and sarcastic tone to it. The fact that the door way is shaped like a man shows the sexist views upon women and prohibiting them to engaged in actual professions. The sign stating "an equal opportunity employer" is an oxymoron, due to the fact that it only applies to men looking for a job. Women we not treated with the same respect, they had very little rights, and the jobs they were able to have were very stereotypical to a women's role: cooking or cleaning.
This is a clear demonstration of how employers claim to be fair when employing women but truly are not. The hole in the wall is clearly only fit for men, and the women standing wants to take the opportunity but she knows she doesn't fit
This political cartoon pertaining to women's rights shows how sexist our society really is. Society claims that they offer jobs with an equal opportunity employeer but clearly, the better jobs are better suited for men. It is possible for women to fit their way into the mold of society for jobs, but as the cartoon depicts, women will have to work much harder and put more effort into seeking a job then men will. This cartoon exemplifies the stereotype that women are more easily suited for jobs that aren't considered "really good careers", but a job as a caretaker or cook.
